February 2019 Marks Our 20th Anniversary
ID Integration has always been dedicated to finding, testing, and proving innovation in all identification technologies. We understand that choosing system integrators is a complex decision. We are honored that government, military, and aerospace contractors, industrial manufacturers, medical device manufacturers, hospitals, and a wide range of business sectors turn to us for cutting-edge solutions.
Here at ID Integration, Inc., we continue to seek out groundbreaking technologies to help our clients work more efficiently to save costs. Take the realm of asset and location tracking using RFID and 2D barcode technology, for example. Our roots began in 1995 when we introduced the 2D Data Matrix barcode technology to Boeing Commercial Airplanes through our manufacturing representative company. Our first pilot project was to laser etch very small Data Matrix codes (0.100” square) on the Boeing Gemcor wing fastening system cutters and other tooling. The challenge Boeing had was that they had to perform multiple tool changes when manufacturing an airplane wing. The operators had to look at paper drawings and select the correct sized tool by reading the human-readable information on each tool. Using an ID Integration developed tool reading system with unique 2D Data Matrix codes on each tool eliminated errors of selecting the wrong tool and also helped Boeing reduce their tooling inventory.
ID Integration was formed in February 1999 after receiving a contract from Boeing to test RFID tag technology to track structural parts through the shot peening, acid etch, and primer painting processes on the shop floor. To track structural airplane parts, ID Integration tested the rice-sized RFID tags that are used as microchips to track pets. We developed and machined special durable plastic rivets to contain the RFID microchips, and then tie-wrapped them onto structural parts. The test proved successful, as the specially engineered RFID tags made it through the harsh production processes. Ultimately, Boeing switched to dot peen marked metal tags, because they wanted human-readable part numbers on the tags and the RFID readers were very large and the cost was high for the readers. The dot peen marked tags included a 2D Data Matrix Code that was read with a scanner at the end of the primer painting process. This was a very unique and challenging application for the 1999 time period and handheld scanner technology available. Boeing still uses this technology today.
Fast-forward twenty years to today.
Our newest edition RFID tags are an excellent example of how we continually strive to streamline the tasks of asset identification, tracking, and location.
Our new V-Tag active mesh network RFID asset tags have been redesigned for a smaller footprint and are now equipped with built-in beepers that beep when activated by cell phone or tablet, while you are on-the-go. Special order custom colors, too, so that your tags will stand out visually on each asset. Just like all active V-Tags™, they create a mesh network and talk to each other, displaying their locations in real-time on a map of your building or warehouse with the aid of AssetWorx!™ Software. For just $35 to $45 per tag, these new, no-fuss active tags are affordable, too.
Our groundbreaking V-Tag GPS™ RFID tags are also available for just $65 per tag, allowing for effective tracking of equipment and tools going beyond the walls of your facility. They are well-suited for remote locations, created for rugged environments, contain beepers that sound off at 75 decibels, and installation is a piece of cake. Go mobile with these tags and view asset locations away from your computer. Perfect for outdoor tracking of vehicles, tools, and shipment containers.
We also recently introduced the first Internet of Things Radio Frequency Reader on the market! The Brady® CenSys RFID Reader fits the budget, and it interacts with paper RFID tags at the low cost of only 15 to 20 cents apiece! This exclusive IoT RF reader simply plugs into a standard grounded outlet. Mount it on a wall and connect it via Wi-Fi. Imagine the unlimited applications for this affordable asset tracking solution: construction tools, pharmaceutical medications, school items, museum collectables, manufactured parts, office inventory, work order processes, and many more.
ID Integration’s development team continues to test emerging technologies for efficient and reliable performance. Of course, an affordable price point remains a critical consideration before we decide to offer it to our valuable clients.
Did you see the newest additions to our extensive line of RFID Starter Kits? These affordable, all-in-one RFID asset tracking kits provide you with the opportunity to experiment with RFID technology to determine the most optimal custom solution for your needs. Eliminate the guesswork of piecing together tags from one manufacturer, gateways from another, and software from yet another, only to discover they are incompatible. These starter kits go are ready to go to work, right from the box.
ID Integration is also known for advancements in the field of IUID compliance. “We have been deeply involved with IUID for many decades,” states our President and Founder, Gary Moe. “Our Chinook program preceded existing IUID standards by three years. Overall, our solutions have transformed the U.S. Army’s use of manual systems to automated systems for better IUID data management and tracking.” Starting in 2003, our Chinook IUID solution provided marking, verification, and location tracking in a self-contained Mobile Parts Marking Trailer staffed by disabled Veterans with CH-47 support. We continue to stand at the forefront of providing advanced IUID applications for the U.S. military and the Department of Defense.
Throughout the years, we continue to explore new applications for our identification technologies. By 2009, we began developing a software suite in response to feedback from IUID customers that needed greater productivity and ease of use while scanning, validating, and moving data to the registry. “One of the biggest challenges with meeting IUID requirements was trying to work with outdated/disparate software systems,” said Gary Moe. After five years of development we released our premier solution, BarCodeOS ® enabled scanners. To date they continue to offer the World’s best plug & play experience (eliminating the need to install hardware drivers), a Functional @ Boot Guarantee (removing the causes of most IT support calls), the World’s easiest reader configuration tool (no steep learning curves and 200+ page manuals required), and, most importantly, the World’s ONLY bar code reader equipped with FIREWALL protection (malicious OS attacks are blocked).
With the belief that BarCodeOS enabled scanners have a place beyond military and aerospace applications, ID Integration branched out to develop Smart-UDI, offering validation and parsing useful for FDA Unique Device (UDI) compliance. Now, our easy-to-use scanners, equipped with an audible “beep” to advise you of whether a scanned code is good or bad, suits the needs of medical device identification.
